We launched FLEXspace.org on the Acquia Platform on the recommendation of our developer. FLEXspace is a complex portal where each "member" is also a mini-administrator, uploading exemplars of different types of technology enabled education spaces. When the version of Drupal reached end of life, our new developer KWALL.com already had a good relationship with Acquia, and the transition has been very smooth with very results! We're anxious to launch the new portal in the coming weeks.
  • It's fast, no lag time
  • Exceptionally good support. When there's a problem, you reach out to your account manager who either fixes the issue or gets you to the right person. We've had no downtime.
  • Platform is very accessible to those who know how to manage the back end software.
I appreciate that their staff is very proactive in reaching out for account renewal, managing the bureaucracy of our accounts system, and being generally good humored during all interactions. It may sound like a little thing, but when you're grinding away all day at a desk, it's a welcome relief (particularly if related to some kind of technical challenge) to have a friendly, well humored, empathic account manager!

We use it for hosting our Drupal site, helping to manage different development environments. Also use it for managing databases and Git repositories making it easy to manage everything. So far there has been a learning curve for me but everything is starting to come together. Seems pretty simple and easy to manage once you get to know everything.
  • Git Management
  • Cloud Hosting
  • Development Enviroments
  • Help docs need updating
For being so new to the platform, would be more experience before being able to describe scenorios.

We use Acquia Cloud as a hosting service and their supplied tools in our Continuous Integration pipeline in order to be able to manage and deploy code on different environments fast. The whole team can then focus their efforts on development rather than deployment. The code switch button allows the team to quickly switch between different VCS branches so they can test different features without the need of spinning up another environment.
  • Code deployment
  • Sending emails
  • Managing SSL certificates
  • Database backups
  • Team management
  • Acquia migrate accelerate could be improved
  • Some documentation is hard to find
  • Adding more Hints in the GUI could help find documentation faster
Hosting a Drupal website on fast and reliable servers when you have a whole team working concurrently on the project where you need to deploy code multiple times a day. Integration with Bitbucket pipelines works great and saves tons of time when reviewing code and merging branches.

Would not recommend for small teams who do not utilise a VCS solution and do not need multiple environment.

We use Acquia cloud for hosting drupal sites of small to large sizes. We use other products like site studio for design and personalization for building a personalized experience for users. Acquia cloud provides an easy interface for managing the sites from deployment to taking backup and it saves lots of time for the team to focus on the actual work.
  • Easy to manage deployment and automatic backups
  • Great support team that is happy to help on any issue specially on critical issues
  • Regular updates about sites and service on Acquia during maintenance
  • Account manager support to always make sure how the site is performing
  • The Acquia personalization does not have clear documentation, It is a bit difficult to find what you are looking for in the documentation
  • The product should have a sandbox account for developers to learn and recommend it to their customers
  • Site studio a has very less option to customise, as we came across few scenarios where we needed to alter the behaviour of site studio component but could not find any documentation about it.
I believe for hosting a drupal application, especially a large application I would recommend using the Acquia platform, Also Acquia provides a list of products that covers the complete digital experience like personalization and site factory for managing multisite.
I would say for small sites it may not be useful to use such a vast eco system of tools.

Flexible CMS

We are using it for our official website. The kind of content management and authoring features they offer is very efficient. Flexibility is the primary advantage of the tools offered by Acquia Digital Experience Platform. Correct documentation and simple UI helps a lot for a new comer to adapt to the environment. The CI/CD pipelines help in quick and easy deployment which in turn lessens the load on developers.
  • Quick and easy deployment
  • Up to date and clear documentation
  • Great customer support
  • There are bugs in Site Studio when developing locally
  • Drush 11 is not yet supported on ACP
  • Video tutorials for BLT from scratch
It is well suited for a website with more flexibility requirements. It also helps if one has an inexperienced / no Integration / CI / CD team. It is also helpful for quick deployments. A website can be easily hosted very quickly using Acquia Digital Experience Platform's tools. It is not suitable for businesses having low flexibility requirements or if content is not updated regularly.

Acquia Digital Experience Platform makes it easier to setup a big state of the art site factory using Drupal's power within an organized and proven package.
The Acquia BLT is at the heart of the stack and improves almost all the development lifecycle to manage and configure your CI/CD efficiently from the local development environment to the production. The learning curve can be steep for junior developers but it's definitely worth it. The documentation is good still with some room of improvement but support is available in case of questions/blockers.
We use mainly Acquia Cloud Platform, Site Factory, Content Hub, Search and Personalization on our projects. In a nutshell:
  • Cloud Platform is where everything is hosted. Administrators can monitor, manage the different environments from there (dev, staging, prod...).
  • Site Factory is where the websites are created, maintained, managed, deployed...
  • Content Hub makes it possible to create centralized/decentralized content repositories to share across a set of subscribing websites.
  • Search is based on Solr and integrated by default in the stack so we don't have to bother with the setup and can be activated/setup easily.
  • Personalization (Lift) provides a UI to create targeted campaigns with specific content for user segments
  • Industrialized platform to manage big site factories
  • Speed-to-market
  • Flexibility in term of governance and architecture
  • Content Hub can be improved on some scenarios
  • Would have been great to have more flexibility for provisioning environments
  • Stacks should be available by default in Site Factory (2 or 3?)
The complementarity of the Acquia solutions makes it easier to add/remove feature stacks more easily. It is some form of composability especially that all the modules are already there in an open source ecosystem where the community can contribute and elevate the products.
We had to replace a solution with another on one of our projects so this organization made it very easy instead.

We use Acquia's DXP for our enterprise clients that have very specific or high standard requirements into regards of hosting and products. Clients that want an extremely flexible front-end we gear towards using Acquia Site Studio, while other use cases where a customer might want to launch 50 sites each year we gear towards Site Factory, sometimes even a combination of the different products and packages.
  • High Availabillity
  • Easy to use and understand UI
  • Easy to self manage
  • Modern approach with Cloud Next
  • Support sometimes feels a bit like ping pong
  • Real containerised hosting (currently you can only deploy code)
High Availability hosting that complies with all ISO rules and practices. Very well suited for enterprise level clients (pricing is also geared towards those). Some products like Site Studio are unique to Acquia.

Acquia built and hosts the websites for our university library system -- at least 8 libraries under one umbrella. I QA'ed for the build team, and I maintain and enhance the site subsequent to build and launch. I use the Cloud Platform dashboard and the Cloud IDE, in conjunction with Github, to manage the configuration of the front end, while others are in charge of content.
  • the site is powerful
  • you can get very granular with configuration and content
  • layout is very simple to execute, but it doesn't look simple on the front. it's simple to execute complicated things
  • almost endlessly customizable with modules
  • the support portal can be hit and miss. sometimes there are very helpful people who get back to you in a timely manner, but more often there's a lot of lag time for the ticket to get picked up and in between responses, which can also be less than helpful.
  • it seems like the different departments within acquia (support, management, build teams) don't communicate with each other.
  • because features are so dense and granular, sometimes the workflow or how they are connected can be really complex to access.
You are able to create almost anything you want, and make almost endless customizations with drupal modules. This is I think the strongest feature of Acquia.
The biggest drawbacks are the inherent complexity - with great customizability comes great complexity-- and the unreliability of the support.
I think that once you truly grasp and are comfortable with the workflows, it will be a very smooth and logical process, but that takes concentrated effort because of the complexity. But, changes on the front end are instantaneous and cascading. It's a tradeoff, which is expected, you just have to be prepared for that.

The web agency I worked for was using Acquia for several of our clients to host their Drupal site.
  • Deployments on different environments are extremely easy
  • Drupal site hosting
  • Excellent technical support
  • Performance
  • The price can be high for a small business
Acquia offers a very wide range of services aimed at large enterprise customers. They can manage high traffic sites.

We use it to host the Drupal Content management system for much of our site. This includes thousands of pages.
  • Low Down Time
  • Excellent Tech Support People
  • Good administrative interface
  • They replaced Acquia Dev Desktop with Acquia Cloud IDE which doesn't let you set up as many instances of Drupal.
It is especially good for large sites with lots of traffic. The ability to easily give different workers different rights is very helpful. I wouldn't use it for a small site with little customization or traffic. The overhead with using Composer would be a bit much for those instances, though it is very helpful for complex sites.

We utilize Acquia Digital Experience Platform working with a variety of organizations to help them deliver personalized flexible websites and portals that improve user experience and make it easier for authors to innovate that experience. The typical challenges businesses are dealing with are needing deeper integrations to deliver on the consumer journey, faster time to market for new initiatives, and a lower total cost of ownership.
  • Easy component framework for drag and drop editing capabilities to accelerate build
  • Centralized management of many sites from a single codebase
  • HIPAA compliant hosting
  • Digital Asset Management
  • Personalizing solution is only rules based, does not have ML or AI yet
  • Would love to see richer analytics
  • Low-code ideas are challenging in production at scale
Acquia’s newer approaches to building sites through either low-code in Site Studio or headless APIs make Drupal a great solution, even when traditional PHP development is not the team’s preference. Acquia is a great solution when organizations want a mixed marketing technology ecosystem - bringing their existing “best of breed” products and easily integrating them.

Acquia Digital Experience Platform products are satisfying the Drupal solutions provided to my customers. Currently, I am using these products from Acquia which are Cloud Enterprise, Website Factory, and Campaign Studio. All products are meeting customer expectations. Especially platform support and uptime.
  • Exclusive Cloud solution for Drupal CMS
  • Acquia Campaign Studio - Powerful Campaign tool
  • Powerful cloud for factory model website building
  • Autoscaling feature is missing in the current Cloud platform in EU region.
  • More external tools can be integrated with Campaign Studio
1. Easy to host Drupal-based applications without any difficulties. 2. Campaign management is quite easy, especially for Email template creation.

We are using the Acquia Digital Experience platform to create, manage and update website content. This product enables us to market our products, services, and other offerings. Its modularity also enables us to implement and embed additional content such as 3D models viewable in AR, mapping functionality, and contact form to assist with customer queries. It’s an integral part of our online presence but it also serves as a knowledge-sharing portal for those employees who are interested in the business unit and its dealings.
  • Modularity
  • Customisation
  • Speed to launch/update
  • Intuitive interface
  • Quick to learn
  • enable standard Two factor authentication
  • Reset password functionality can be improved
  • Live mock preview of how the page will look like so I don’t have to keep switching between windows
Great content management system for large teams. It is easy and intuitive and it doesn’t require specialist roles, anyone who is trained can go and make pages, edit content and quickly launch webpages. it would be less appropriate for teams who are experienced in a competitor product as the Site Studio interface is slightly different.

We are currently using it to provide our corporate website over the internet. It's used mainly by the marketing department, but it's also used to publish and manage different services and aspects for different departments: HR, partners, alliances, etc. Acquia [Digital Experience Platform] helps to manage one (or multiple) websites or applications built on top of Drupal. Acquia [Digital Experience Platform] allows me to have [three] different environments for managing the website: development, staging, and production. This can be helpful for managing a website with particular logic or defined publishing flow.
  • Development, staging, production
  • Built-in GIT flow
  • Drag & drop code deploy
  • Easy-to-use interface
  • Database access
  • Cloud IDE
  • The support
It's appropriate for a big company that wants to publish its website on the internet, and this website is built on top of Drupal. The publishing flow is great because you can have a preview of the website in the staging or development website before put[ting] it live. It doesn't provide support for other CMS, and this could be a problem. We use other CMS for other purposes that are better than Drupal, and we had to host it elsewhere.

We use Acquia's Digital Experience Platform across many initiatives, incorporating it both for client and internal projects. Uses vary from automated drip campaigns, to site builds and maintenance to automated content alerts. Our internal use ranges from both the digital to the internal marketing team for our client communications. Client use is foundational as we use Acquia Digital Experience-hosted Drupal sites for our customers as their hub and build additional services off of that.
  • Gives a lot of functional flexibility at a reasonable entry/price point.
  • Allows for unlimited customization, is very flexible, and gives enough options to cover almost any situation.
  • Allows for users from all types of backgrounds (tech, non tech) to interact and use the products.
  • Campaign studio reporting could be a lot better.
  • Cloud IDE can take some getting used to, also having to remove and recreate sites every time you need to use a different site is an issue in an agency model.
If you have the staff and resources to get the builds up and running then this [Acquia Digital Experience Platform] is a fantastic solution. If you are looking for something very static, that will not need much functionality, nor change content often, then it likely [provides] more [of a] solution than you need. Definitely a top offering for mid-level to enterprise-level solutions.

We use the Acquia Digital Experience Platform across our whole global organization. It enables and supports our multi-site set up allowing us to share a codebase and resources. This streamlines [the] governance and product management of our digital platform. Since moving onto Acquia, we've reduced the number of different websites and systems in use.
  • Reliable hosting
  • Technology to support complex website
  • 24/7 support
  • Drupal developers working on Acquia [Digital Experience] need to learn how it works.
  • Systems can be complex.
  • Support can be limited in what they assist with.
  • Account management can be patchy.
Acquia Digital Experience Platform is well suited for organizations with complex digital needs. It is ideal for medium to large global organizations that have multiple websites and microsites. They have a range of technology solutions for different needs and levels of digital maturity. You can scale up and down based on what you need and budget.

We currently use the Acquia platform to manage the hosting for our own Drupal website, as well as for our several of our client sites. Our agency and our clients use a variety of Acquia's suite of products including Acquia Cloud, Acquia Lift, Acquia BLT, and Acquia Lightning. Our agency is a Preferred Partner of Acquia and we work with several of their sales reps, account managers, and technical architects to manage our client projects. Acquia's offerings are top notch for Drupal websites and provide the best platform, uptime, and performance for our site and our client's sites. Using Acquia allows us to get our client's sites up running much quicker and smoother, allowing us to focus on the more custom implementation for a project, without the worries around having a secure, scalable platform to support our work.
  • Acquia has a variety of products and services that serve a variety of clients that span across many industries. The wide variety of use cases, supported by hundreds of case studies, make selling Acquia to our customers very easy.
  • Acquia's platform is secure, scalable, and designed specifically for Drupal allowing us to get projects started much smoother and quicker.
  • Acquia is always innovating and providing new products for their entire suite. Acquia's LIFT product is a game changing platform that is starting to provide a personalization solution meant for any size client and project website.
  • Acquia's pricing is sporadic across each product offering and for each industry vertical. Making pricing more standard across the board would help alleviate some of the doubt from our clients when they go to Acquia's site to see different products.
  • Acquia's BLT is a new and innovative product, but still lacks a lot of use cases. This comes with more implementation examples which will definitely come with time.
  • There is sometimes an inconsistency among different Acquia sales people and account managers. This results in a vastly different experience when bringing clients to Acquia. Mixed with Acquia's strange salesperson geographic/industry allocation, this has caused confusion for us and our clients. We'd love to see Acquia reps be more consistent across the board.
Acquia is well-suited for any Drupal web platform. I think it best plays in the enterprise space, either for B2B or nonprofit/higher ed/government. Acquia is a great solution for smaller web platforms, as well, but the price is typically prohibitive in these scenarios.
